Thousands of Connecticut's caretakers have been on strike for more than two weeks waiting for a funding solution in the state budget. Those who work in group homes and day programs across the state say they don’t want to be striking but need a larger percentage of the state’s rare surplus for the industry and its employees to survive.

The legislature says while they’re looking at an increase ahead of the looming legislative session deadline, they won’t be able to meet the groups’ demands.
