Many of you will already know who the Power of Mama are, but in case you’re new to our page, Power of Mama are Indonesia’s FIRST all-female firefighting force, consisting of members that have been recruited from six villages surrounding orangutan habitat in Ketapang. The project is facilitated by our partners, YIARI.

This amazing group routinely organise patrols to detect and extinguish fires, as well as work within their local communities to provide education about best farming practises to reduce fires.

We’re happy to announce the Power of Mama won the Clean Air Championship Award 2023! The award was presented by the Faculty of Forestry and Environment (Fahutan) IPB University and Farmers' Initiatives for Ecological Livelihood in recognition of the Mamas and their amazing work. Maimun, a member of The Power of Mama, travelled from Ketapang to represent the group and accept the award in Bogor City.
