Shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor says every Labor government thinks they can “defy the laws of economics” but they fail “time and time again”.

There is growing concern the Albanese government’s 'Future Made in Australia' agenda could exacerbate inflation.

Independent economist Chris Richardson warns it could lead to increased budget deficits over time as a result.

“The only exception to that was of course in the 80s – but we had a Labor government then led by a prime minister who was an economist,” Mr Taylor told Sky News Australia.

“I can tell you – Anthony Albanese and Jim Chalmers aren’t economists.”
