"It was an opera house that normalized professional abuse and misconduct." Australian mezzo-soprano Katharine Tier worked at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe (Germany) for almost ten years. The meanwhile dismissed intendant Peter Spuhler established a toxic working environment full of sexism, misongyny and dehumanization. In the interview Kate describes how she felt sicker and sicker and struggled with depression and eating disorders. Suffering from burnout she decided to leave Europe and recover in her new home Tasmania - far from the sickening opera world.
