Easy Fix! Key Broken In Ignition Switch 07-13 Chevy

On this video we handle the dreaded key broke off in ignition, now 90% of shops would call a locksmith or simply replace the ignition, to avoid costs to my client who had already paid a locksmith a fee to attempt getting it out I elected to go a different route. Here you will see how I disabled the tumblers temporarily to pop the key out of the ignition to reinstall and allow my client to get back on the road in a timely fashion simply by using his spare key and getting another key made for a back up.

I neglected to say I applied white lithium grease to ignition and wiped it down prior to reinstallation. Grease is to allow it to slide in and so the tumblers springs and windows slide easily, wiping down is to remove any excess grease to avoid build up inside the housing.
