DO...pull onto the hard shoulder ONLY if absolutely necessary.
DON’T...pull onto the hard shoulder to use the phone.
DO...stop your car as far left as possible, and quickly leave from the left side doors.
DON’T...attempt to make repairs. Even simple ones.
DO...switch on your hazard lights.
DON’T...try to deploy any warning devices.
DO...call for help from an emergency phone or mobile, or use the AA app.
DON’T...cross the motorway to reach an emergency phone.
DON’T...immediately attempt to rejoin from the hard shoulder.
DO...build up speed and look for a gap to join safely.
