美しいとやまの祭り 津沢夜高あんどん祭り The beautiful rural festival in Japan

富山の小矢部市津沢地区の夜高祭。毎年6月の第一金曜日と土曜日に行われる、田植えが終わったあとの「やすんごと」と称して五穀豊穣を祝うお祭りです。富山県砺波平野一帯の農村部で室町時代におこった田祭りが原型と推測されます。午後9時頃よりあんどん広場前道路にて始まるのが、大行燈7基による勇壮な夜高行燈のぶつけ合い。高さ6.5ｍの向かい合った2基の大行燈がぶつかり合い、相手の釣り物を大きな音を立てて潰し合うもので、午前0時頃まで続けられます。
激しく荒々しい大行燈の喧嘩が津沢夜高あんどん祭の醍醐味でもあります。
この夜高祭りは、津沢から北海道沼田町に、1977年（昭和52年）から沼田の夜高祭りとして伝承されており、沼田の夜高祭りは北海道の三大行燈祭りに挙げられるまでに発展しています。
Every year on the first Friday and Saturday night in June, theTsuzawa Yotaka Andon Festival is held in Tsuzawa, Oyabe City topray for peace, tranquility, and bountiful harvests of grains. Made up of dengaku andon lanterns, dashi froat toppers, and hanging decorations, the yotaka can be as large as 6.5 m high and 12 m long.
As dusk approaches on the day of the festival, the dengaku andon hanging from the eaves of homes are lit. With that signal, first children wearing spotted headbands and happi coats pull small andon, and they are followed by young adults drawing the large andon accompanied by drumming and shouts. The highlight of the festival is when andon coming from opposite directions meet and the leaders’ shout at each other spiritedly, colliding in an attempt to destroy the opposite side’s froat topper and hanging decorations.
The instant when the young people’s bravery and energy collide, the spectators are also drawn into a world of tension and euphoria.
