Bengaluru perifera Ring Road
The Bengaluru Peripheral Ring Road (PRR), now rebranded as the Bengaluru Business Corridor (BBC), is a proposed 74-kilometer, 8-lane access-controlled expressway encircling the city to alleviate traffic congestion on existing roads. This project aims to connect major arterial routes, including Tumakuru Road, Hessaraghatta Road, Doddaballapur Road, Ballari Road, Hennur Road, Old Madras Road, Hoskote Road, Sarjapur Road, and Hosur Road.

Approved by the Karnataka state government in February 2022 for development under a public-private partnership model, the PRR is expected to be completed by December 2027. The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is overseeing the project and has initiated land acquisition processes, targeting over 2,600 acres across various villages, farms, and residential areas.

In recent developments, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar reviewed the project in February 2025, indicating renewed governmental focus on its progress. Additionally, the BDA has formed nine teams dedicated to acquiring approximately 1,800 acres of land to revive the PRR project, underscoring the administration's commitment to advancing this infrastructure initiative.

The PRR is designed to complement Bengaluru's existing Outer Ring Road (ORR), a 60-kilometer stretch developed between 1996 and 2002, which currently connects key highways and facilitates intra-city traffic. The PRR aims to further improve connectivity and reduce congestion by providing an additional bypass around the city.

While the project has faced delays since its initial conception over two decades ago, the recent administrative actions and land acquisition efforts suggest a renewed momentum toward its completion.
