Stoptech Brakes Rebuild Tips

Описание к видео Stoptech Brakes Rebuild Tips

Stoptech brakes are well designed and durable. But even so, after enough hard track driving, the rectangular gaskets that pull the pistons back into the caliper body, will wear out resulting in pad drag. These are fairly easy to replace with a few simple tips and tools. In this video I'm rebuilding a set of ST-40 brakes used on a 2006 Honda S2000.

Stoptech makes a lot of different calipers with different diameters and numbers of pistons, frequently mixing diameters in a single caliper. Identifying the size gaskets you need prior to dismounting and disassembling your calipers will make for an easier repair. The diameter of the pistons is marked both on the dust seal (difficult to read if brakes have been run a lot) and on the base of the piston which can be read by removing the brake pads and using a mirror and flashlight.

FWIW the the calipers on these ST-40 brakes on the S2000 each have a pair of 34 mm pistons and a pair of 40 mm pistons.
