(12 Nov 2008) SHOTLIST
AP Entertainment
New York, 11 November 2008
1. Exterior, Cipriani, pan down and push over to red carpet tent
2. Cipriani signage, push over to projected sign
3. Medium shot, slight pull out, Elton John and David Furnish on the carpet
4. SOUNDBITE (English) Elton John/ Recording Artist:
"Well, an 'Enduring Vision' is really because this disease is not going away and we call the event 'Enduring Vision' because we have an enduring vision that one day, maybe it will go away. Like one day, there might be a black American president. You always have to hope, you know? You always have to think, it can happen, it can happen. And it must happen because more and more people are getting sick. More and more younger people are getting sick within America and the rest of the world and this disease isn't going anywhere. It's stabilising in some places, but it's going up forty per cent in others. So, it's something we're going to have to do for a long time."
5. Wide shot, Elton John and David Furnish on the carpet, push in to medium close.
6. SOUNDBITE (English) Elton John/ Recording Artist:
"We're very small and we don't have many staff. If I don't keep my eye on it and get involved, then people will lose their enthusiasm. You can't just be a figurehead. You have to know where the money's going. You have to make sure your staff is still buoyant and they're encouraged. And if I don't get involved then they're going to think, 'Oh, well Elton's not interested anymore.' And of course I'm still interested. I'm passionately interested. So, I do it because I love doing it. I love my staff. They're the ones in the trenches everyday. And, I have to become involved with it, and I want to be involved with it. There's no point in setting up the organisation unless I was going to be involved. It's going to be twenty years old soon. It's amazing."
7. Close up of step and repeat, pull back and tilt down to Elton John being interviewed.
8. SOUNDBITE (English) Elton John/ Recording Artist: (on performing this evening with Gladys Knight)
"I'm going to do 'That's What Friends Are For' which is a no-brainer really, because I haven't really sung that since Gladys and I recorded it all those years ago with Stevie and Dionne Warwick."
9. Medium shot, Tim Allen and wife Jane on the carpet
10. SOUNDBITE (English) Tim Allen/ Actor: (on receiving an Enduring Vision award)
"I think it's because Jane and I have supported Elton since he started the LA version of his charity. I don't really know. I'll tell you, if it weren't for my sense of humour I couldn't get through this. As I said, he's a wonderful guy and he's asked me to do this for a couple of years. I felt unworthy of it and this time he really pushed and I said yeah. Again, we show up where he asks us to show up, and that's about it. He would have a better answer. It sounds weird coming out of me. I'm very grateful... Humbled to be here."
11. Close up, Jane Hajduk, pan to Close up, Tim Allen
12. Tim Allen and wife Jane greet Buzz Aldrin and his wife
SOUNDBITE (English) Tim Allen/ Actor: (to the camera)
"The second man on the moon. We were over his house for dinner. This guy's been on the moon. Only guy you know who can point to the moon and go, 'Eh... Been there."
13. Medium shot, pull out to wide, Susan Lucci on the carpet
14. SOUNDBITE (English) Susan Lucci/ Actress:
"Well. I'm a great fan of Elton John and also, my husband and I had the great pleasure of having dinner with him in London last September where I got to speak to him. And I just admire him tremendously. What a great great person."
15. Fashion shot, Susan Lucci
