I don’t like playing festival races, I usually refuse to play the game during festivals due to World Match being disabled, but I decided to give this one some time, since I wanted the Pacman stuff from it. I realised after playing for a bit that the Shoot Out races are actually pretty fun, so I decided to only play during the Shoot Out. These are selected races that took place on 09/01/2026, decided to use Shadow for a change to get more from my speed vehicle.

Festival races have 3 teams of 4 playing against each other for the most points, in Shoot Out races the team with the most item hits gets an extra ten points. The rental gadget plate is very strong to get item hits, I imagine most people are using it. Ultimately the rules create a need for everyone to go super aggressive with attack items in an attempt to hit each other, with reminds me of when I used to play Countdown Mode actively in Mario Kart Wii CTGP Revolution, this is probably why I enjoyed playing these shoot out races, even the changes to the item roulette that the rental gadget does reminds me of getting constant triple red shells in Countdown.
