Kids in Sports launched in Manhattan in 1999 and after proving the concept, Mike Srut and his partner decided to franchise beginning in 2014. They’ve sold 3 franchise units and attract hundreds (sometimes) thousands of children to their locations.

The brick and mortar locations offer a variety of team sports but also offer birthday parties. Franchisees can also utilize satellite locations – such as parks, daycare centers and religious facilities – to extend their market.

Franchisees pay a $35,000 franchise fee and the total investment ranges from $202,000 to $331,000 with financing available through third parties. Most of the startup funds are necessary for the build out of the location.

A big advantage for franchisees: an established curriculum for progressive sports training and education. The franchisor created the curriculum and designed it so that children can begin at a very early age and continue up to the teen years.

The franchisor’s corporate location attracts more than 1,000 children a week, but numbers will vary depending on location. While the franchisee’s build out is underway, the franchisor works with the franchisee to implement marketing campaigns so that the first customers show up right when the location opens.
