Let's talk about hamstrings. Yours may feel like concrete or maybe they're loose as a goose. Wherever you are on the spectrum note how they feel and how they're holding up in between and during workouts. If you think that your lower back is super tight it could be your hamstrings. Do you run a lot? Are you lifting heavy weights at the gym? Chances are your hamstrings are feeling super tight.

 In this video, we explore a few different ways to loosen the hamstrings providing more comfort for the lower back and hips. Know that you don't always have to attend a one hour yoga class to actually do yoga. 

Yoga could be doing a few different postures or stretches at home before you leave for the day. It could be stretching at your desk while you're sitting and doing work. It could be stretching with your children on the weekend while they're participating in a sports activity.

We can use our time wisely by incorporating a few movements and holding them for longer periods of time if you don't have time to attend one of the yoga classes at RVA Performance Training. 

Try this video and set a timer for 2 to 5 minutes to hold each pose. Do it everyday for a week and notice the difference. Another good time to do this would be after working out.

 Keep in mind that if our hamstrings are super tight then it means that we cannot work at a 100% of our performance capacity. 

 Please note: Your hip flexors maybe to blame here and that is something we will explore in another video. However,  if you know certain hip flexor openers like low lunges, or other movements, to then get right to it if your hamstrings need it. "
