Headstone Tunnel to Millers Dale Station - The Monsal Trail Uncovered

Was the closure of the Midland Railway between Matlock and the edge of Buxton the most regrettable Railway Closure? It is absolutly one of them for sure.

In Part 3 i pick up the route right after Headstone Tunnel and Monsal Head Viaduct.
First up and rather quickly is Monsal Head Station. This one looked rather isolated when open but lovely looking never the less.
Then its onto two more tunnels, Cressbrook and Litton. Both very similar in length.

I mile or so in daylight and we arrive at the two stunning viaducts of Millers Dale.
These are a lovely looking pair before finishing off at the much missed Millers Dale Station.
