Today we’re looking at the Mossberg 940 Pro Thunder Ranch edition — a semi-auto shotgun built in collaboration with Clint Smith of Thunder Ranch. Designed for reliability, speed, and hard use, this shotgun packs tactical features right out of the box.

Just uploaded a video on the Mossberg 940 Pro Thunder Ranch edition. This is my initial thoughts and impressions after putting about 100 rounds of buckshot and slugs through it.

Quick takeaways:

✅ Ultra-reliable gas system (ran 100% so far)

✅ Oversized controls, Cerakote FDE, M-LOK handguard

✅ Adjustable stock makes it versatile

❌ No chokes (fixed choke barrel)

❌ No side saddle (despite marketing images)

❌ Some magazine tube inconsistencies (not always 7+1 with all 2¾” loads)

Compared it mentally to the 930, 940 SPX, and Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol — each has its trade-offs. Clint Smith’s Thunder Ranch pedigree definitely adds some trust factor, but there are compromises you’ll want to know about before buying.
