Chandra Bhedana Pranayama, also known as the Moon Piercing Breath, is a powerful yet simple practice that harnesses the energy of the lunar (cooling) side of your breath. By focusing on inhaling & exhaling through the left nostril, we create a cooling effect within the body and activate the calming qualities of the parasympathetic nervous system.

This 10-minute practice offers a host of benefits that can enhance your overall well-being. When practiced regularly, Chandra Bhedana Pranayama can help you:

Cool down and balance your body: This breathing technique has a cooling effect on the body, making it an excellent practice during hot weather or when you feel overheated. It helps regulate body temperature and creates a sense of internal balance.

Calm and relax the mind: By activating the parasympathetic nervous system, Chandra Bhedana Pranayama induces a state of relaxation and calmness. It can help reduce anxiety, stress, and restlessness, allowing you to experience a peaceful and tranquil state of mind.

Improve focus and mental clarity: The practice of Chandra Bhedana Pranayama enhances mental clarity and sharpness. By promoting a calm mind, it can improve your ability to concentrate, make decisions, and stay present in the moment.

Harmonize energy flow: This pranayama technique helps balance the ida nadi, the lunar energy channel, which is associated with the cooling, receptive, and introspective aspects of our being. By harmonizing the flow of energy, it supports overall vitality and well-being.

Things to Remember while you practice asanas -

1. Always practice on an empty stomach. Keep a gap of at least 3 hours between your meal and your practice. If you've eaten fruits, a gap of 2 hours would be sufficient.
2. Wear loose comfortable cotton clothes. Please DO NOT wear tight, polyester, dry fit clothes while practising asanas. You skin requires fresh air during asanas.
3. If you're a complete beginner, it would be wise to keep a mirror next to you while you practice. This will allow you to observe your posture and help you auto-correct.
4. Do not practice if you are pregnant or if you have had any type of surgery in the past 12 months. Also, do not practice if you have back or neck related issues.
