The cover song Puwacha Nipucha & Asaraya Sina Jya depicting the theme of the monsoon and paddy farming in the Kathmandu Valley. It is the Newari folk tune about monsoon and the rice plantation in the valley. The farmers in Nepal depend entirely on rainfall for farming. The song describes the joy of planting rice and the social aspect of coming together to help one another in the community.
This time of year is very important because rice is the main food crop that families depended on for the whole year. During 'Sina Jya, the crucial rice planting period, families would delay funerals if a family member died, keeping the body on the south side of the house. This was to ensure the planting was completed properly, as a poor harvest could lead to food shortages. This intense effort underscores the period's importance.
Rice Planting is also known as Sina Jya in local people. Sina Jya is the Comprised words of सिना (Sina) translates to Dying and ज्या (Jya) translates to Work, Dyingly Hard Laborous Work as a whole, this song is the celebration of the ambiance of the month Asar, generally the monsoon season, during plantation, in Nepal. It is mostly popular among Newa ethnic communities.
