ELT'S BIG CONVERSATION: Putting Dialogic Teaching into Practice

While interaction lies at the very center of English language teaching, mere student participation does not mean meaningful learning. English language teachers need to conduct intentionally designed activities to make the students talk. In this video, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sezen Arslan explores dialogic teaching as a framework to promote student-student and teacher-student talk. Going beyond the traditional teacher-dominated classrooms, she first provides information about the theoretical foundations of dialogic teaching and its demonstrable link to better language learning. Then she talks about practical implementations to illustrate dialogic teaching in use for teachers, practitioners, and researchers.
