Why does the M4 iPad Pro need macOS? Well, the clue is the word "Pro". There's nothing "Pro" about running mobile apps, primarily designed for the iPhone and iOS, on a tablet that has all the power of a MacBook Pro or Mac desktop computer.

Now whether you agree with that opening statement or not, try this one for size. In the Apple Event May 7 2024 and the M4 iPad Pro unveil, Tim Cook made hardly any mention, if any, about iPadOS and the next version. Now usually at these Apple Events there's usually a song and dance about the next iPadOS and in fact, it's not uncommon for an iPad like the iPad Pro to be released alongside a new iPadOS operating system. However, nothing was really said about iPadOS for the M4 iPad Pro. Could this mean that Tim kept something back for the Apple WWDC 2024 event next month, maybe an announcement for macOS on M4 iPad Pro? Probably not but I've seen stranger things happen.
