How we’ve adapted our VW California van pop top roof to carry weight

Описание к видео How we’ve adapted our VW California van pop top roof to carry weight

Welcome to our 3rd video where we explain why and how we have adapted our factory fitted pop top roof to be versatile and carry equipment to give us more room inside the van.

Please note one very important point, we haven’t mentioned in the video the adaption method we have used will only work on a VW California Beach, NOT a California Ocean! The reason for this is the Beach has a manual lift mechanism whereas the Ocean has an electric motor which will very quickly burn out if you start changing gas struts or loading more than the recommended load weight. Sorry guys this one is aimed at the Beach owners amongst you, however keep watching as there might be ideas you can take from the way we have modified our van or even provide a spot of inspo to get you started on your van journey.

For reference the Belgium company who made our bespoke gas struts is called Hinscha.

Our solar panels and lithium battery have all been neatly and discreetly wired in by Snug Campers based In Malton, North Yorkshire. A big shout out to Dave the owner of Snug Campers, a top bloke and will gladly help with any camper mods.
