There is a new sheriff in town in Balule Nature Reserve South Africa. An all-female team unit was formed to protect wildlife from poaching. New recruits to the unit undergo a six-week training course. It takes them through arrest procedures, fitness, and equipment use. And they go into the wild and survive for two weeks by themselves. they learn animal behavior so that they may protect them. When they are ready, they patrol to park to check for snares and poaching. Within one year of activity, they were able to bring down snaring by 85%. Many doubted their success but they never doubted themselves. To be a black mamba means to be strong and though. But also to love and cherish the environment.
