The hunt for Gollum is on, but we have a theory about the character's true origins. We believe that it wasn't just Andy Serkis and Peter Jackson who were influenced by Peter Lorre's turn in the 1931 film "M", but that J.R.R. Tolkien also took inspiration for his Lord of the Rings trilogy (and the Hobbit) from Lorre's incredible performance.
