Joshimath, a popular tourist destination, a place of strategic importance and one of the holy towns in Uttarakhand is on the verge of sinking. The city has been declared a landslide-subsidence zone. Huge cracks have developed in hundreds of houses and roads. Over 60 families have been evacuated to relief centres.

PM Modi spoke to Uttarakhand CM Dhami and assured all possible help. PMO also held a high level meet on the situation.
