Video #264 - a journey in AC 3-Tier from Madurai Jn to Guruvayur by the 16327 Madurai-Guruvayur Express. This is a train that operates via Virudhunagar, Sivakasi, Tenkasi, Sengottai, Punalur, Kollam Junction, Kayamkulam, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town and Thrissur.

This was probably our last journey with a Diesel Locomotive on this route - we got a WDP4D of Golden Rock shed on this journey. Electrification is completed on this route - and is awaiting commissioning of Punalur Traction Substation - trains would run with electric locos after that!

This train was created by amalgamating three trains - the Madurai-Sengottai Passenger, Sengottai-Kollam passenger and Punalur-Guruvayur Express. It now runs as an Express, with three reserved coaches (1 AC 3-Tier and 2 Sleeper) and 11 unreserved coaches. The train has a total load of 14 coaches - and cannot increase due to restrictions in platform length at many stations on the route.
