Building A Wooden Wind Spinner With Reclaimed Wood On The Scroll Saw

Описание к видео Building A Wooden Wind Spinner With Reclaimed Wood On The Scroll Saw

A few years ago I had an ideal about trying to use an aluminum soft drink can to make a wind spinner. I found no one on line doing anything like that so I developed my own methods to mark and cut the cans to make a spinner. I tested many examples with different numbers of blades and configuration. Almost all of the worked to some extent and even sold a few at flea markets. A few weeks ago I decided to try to re-create them in a wooden form and this is the first attempt. I drew my own pattern for the top and bottom and ripped some 2x4 scraps to cut the blades. I tried an 18 blade spinner. In my experience the more blades the better, even if they a smaller as you go. The eighteen blades did not allow enough air flow so I cut it to nine and it works as well as I had hoped. I will explore this a little further in future videos.
