Dissolve amino acids in water and mix with the tofu. Add aloe vera and oil and blend. Apply to dry hair that is to be washed. Cover hair. Leave on for 30 mintues. Add coconut oil. Leave on for 10 minutes. Wash andd condition and detangle and style as usual.

Protein pre-treatment to be used on dry hair prior to the shampoo or wash. It uses soft tofu and the sulfur bearing amino acids: methionine, cystine and cysteine. Coconut oil is optional. The purpose of this treatment is to infuse the hair strand with the fatty acid base (tofu) and the protein building amino acids. The amino acids are "hygroscopic" in that they attract water inside the hair strand. All ingredients are edible and are designed for human consumption.

The outer surface of the hair is a lipo-protein meaning that it is made of oil (lipid) and protein based materials. The tofu and amino combination penetrate the surface of the hair strand.

This treatment is not providing "nutrition" or food to the hair strand. The purpose of this treatment is to create a medium which allows the amino acids to penetrate the hair for the purpose of attracting and bringing in MOISTURE to the hair strand. The secondary benefit is the protein from the tofu also helps to fortify and strengthen the hair strand.

Amino acids can be purchased from Jo mar labs. They ship internationally:

*Use soft tofu and not firm tofu. Firm tofu will leave residual pieces of tofu in the hair that will be hard to remove!

Coconut oil application is an optional step but one I like to use to help seal in moisture.

8. Can I use this treatment and skip the Aphogee 2 Step treatment or other "hard protein" type treatment products? No. This pre protein treatment is made to fortify the hair from the inside. Aphogee is made to fortify the outside of the hair strand. I use them both.
