*Kasia Kowalska* (born June 13, 1973, in Sulejówek) is one of the most prominent Polish rock singers, a composer, lyricist, and music producer. A member of the Polish Phonographic Academy (ZPAV), she is a recipient of Fryderyk awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, and numerous other honors. With over 1.3 million albums sold, she ranks among Poland’s best‑selling artists.

Raised in a musical family in Sulejówek, she began singing in a church choir as a child and dreamed of a career on stage. As a teenager, she joined bands such as Evergreen, Human, Fatum, Piersi, and Talking Pictures, recording an album with the latter in 1992. Her breakthrough came after a concert at Warsaw’s Stodoła club in 1993, where she was discovered by Izabelin Studio and signed a solo contract.

Her debut album, Gemini (1994), featuring hits like Wyznanie and Jak rzecz*, became a massive success, earning double platinum certification and a Fryderyk award for Best Debut. In 1995, she won both the Grand Prix and Audience Award at the Sopot Festival with the song *A to, co mam… and released her first live album, Koncert inaczej*. In 1996, she represented Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest with *Chcę znać swój grzech... and released the platinum album *Czekając na...*.

In the following years, she solidified her position with Pełna obaw (1998, platinum) featuring the hit Co może przynieść nowy dzień*, and *5 (2000, gold) with the single Nobody*. Her 2002 album *Antidotum earned her another Superjedynka award and the platinum single Pieprz i sól*. In 2004, she traveled to Tokyo to record *Samotna w wielkim mieście*, which again won her the Superjedynka award. She continued to deliver personal and powerful rock stories with later projects such as *Antepenultimate (2008), Ciechowski. Moja krew (2010), and AYA (2018). In 2019, she released the live album *MTV Unplugged*.

Kowalska has won numerous awards, including Superjedynka statuettes, the Amber Nightingale in Sopot, an Eska Music Award, and the prestigious MTV Europe Music Award for Best Polish Act (2001). She also starred in the film Nocne graffiti (1997), for which she recorded the song *Straciłam swój rozsądek*.

Her distinctive voice, honest lyrics, and stage energy have earned her a place as one of Poland’s most important rock artists of the past three decades. Despite her battle with Lyme disease, she continues to create and perform, proving her unwavering passion for music.
