LEARNINGS:
1. Why James prefers to use the Nikon DSLR and not so much mirrorless, easy access for camera control for all options rather than use a menu-driven system such as SONY or Fuji.
2. When on location, James uses a 24-70mm lens mainly– why go on location and not show it in some of your pictures? Of course, 85mm and 105mm can also be good for closer work.
3. Make the model stand out from the background with a shallow depth of field on f2.8 out the background.
4. Everyone should have an LED light in their travel bag or equipment case package.
5. With the right flashlight you can overpower the Sun creating theatrical backgrounds with underexposure.
6. Don’t be afraid to use your smartphone for your BTS (behind-the-scenes) stills.
