this is a simple exercise in which, for better comfort and safety before the body and brain get used to the position, skiing is done without poles..free hands/palms provide additional psychological security, knowing that if anything goes out of control, we can always support ourselves with our palms..

the goal is to lean more to the side gradually, increasing the angle between the ski and the surface over time..this practice focuses on skiing on the edges, which is ultimately the essence of CARVING: only the edge is in contact with the surface, the ski bends, and the turn happens naturally..all of this leads to easier skiing on all, especially hard surfaces, better ski control, and most importantly, smoother turns, resulting in less fatigue for the skier..when executed correctly, the skis practically do all the work..the outer ski takes the lead and bears the most pressure, while the inner ski follows and assists..

after a few warm-up runs, we began practicing on a milder slope (but not too mild!), just to grasp the basic positions and movements, and after few runs moved on to a steeper slope, where the effect is much better and more evident, because CARVING and speed go hand in hand..

basically, CARVING doesn't work at low speeds - it's basic physics..😉
