How to do an Aged (Relic'd) Finish on a Strat Pickguard

Описание к видео How to do an Aged (Relic'd) Finish on a Strat Pickguard

Here's one of many techniques that can be used to achieve an aged or relic'd look for your Strat's pickguard. Most of the painting materials shown can be purchased at your local hardware store like Lowes or Home Depot. The amber tinting liquid can be found at Rockler's Woodworking Supply. The Preval paint sprayer allows you to mix a batch of tinted lacquer to your liking. If you mess up, just wipe the pickguard clean with a rag with some paint thinner and start over. Sanding the pickguard give the paint a good surface to stick to. Once painted, sanding the clear coat levels out the finish. You can sand and buff to a glass shine, or leave it as a satin like finish, which is what I do.
