Exploring a new spot in San Diego over the weekend. We found this spot by looking for some structure or kelp using Google maps. This spot we noticed had a huge grouping of kelp further out from shore that looked promising for larger fish. We swam out from shore at least a mile. We began to get closer to boats so we tried to keep our distance. The surf was around a foot and swells were moderate closer to shore but where we ended up fishing had aggressive swells. I had to adapt and anchor my float to some kelp to just hold on so the current wouldn't push me away too far. I used my float to rest at times and mark where I was.

We end up harvesting a couple Sargo and a Sheephead. We make them into delicious Ceviche and simple pan fry. I really enjoyed eating the fish I caught on this trip.
