The father Carroll used to work as a physician. Unfortunately, he passed away at a quite young age, being just 34 years old. It happened in 1962 because of a car accident.

A few years after her husband's death, the mother Barbara walked down the aisle for the second time with a police chief. Barbara was the one who helped Linda with her bipolar disorder, making sure she took antidepressants and went through psychotherapy. It was also she, who motivated a famed daughter to pursue a career in the filmmaking world, instead of becoming an archeologist or a firefighter. Barbara died in 2019, aged 87.

Leslie J. Payne Jr. was the celebrity’s step-father, who had been living with Barbara until his death in 2015 at the age of 81.

The actress has three blood siblings. The first one is a sister Laura. She studied philosophy and law. Also, she is a mother to three kids.

One more sister is named Leslie and she is Linda’s identical twin. She is a nurse at a hospital in Mount Holly and a mother to three children.

For both of them it was love at first sight and that’s why just after a few months of dating, they tied the knot. The union had been lasting since 1982 and up till 1989 and fell apart because of Linda’s bipolar disorder.

In 1997 the film star walked down to the altar for the second time with a filmmaker James Cameron. In 1999 the couple divorced as Hamilton found out about Cameron’s cheating with Suzy Amis, who featured in Titanic.

The celebrity has two children. From the first marriage to Abbott, there is a son Dalton, who was delivered in 1989. He can be seen in Terminator: Judgment Day.

With Cameron, there is a daughter Josephine, who was born in 1993. She lives a very private life in Malibu far from the spotlight.
