Suffolk’s First Ever “Cancer Awareness Ribbon” World Record Attempt to Take Place on 11th April 2026!

For the first time in the UK, a World Record attempt is being organised by the founders of Hope to Connect, two Suffolk -based women who want to get people across the UK involved to honour people touched by cancer. The event will take place on Saturday 11th April 2026, from 11am-7pm at Trinity Park, Ipswich, Suffolk, which will include a wonderful day of food and drink village, entertainment and craft market.

Emma Adams, co-founder of Hope To Connect and currently living with stage 4 breast cancer, shared:

“We want to create something truly historic, showing that even through cancer, connection and community can shine the brightest. Every person who takes part in this world record attempt becomes part of a much bigger picture - one that represents love, resilience, and the power of connection. Mandeep and I want to create an event that truly expresses that, so we’ll make it into a fun day for all.”

Mandeep Birdy, co-founder of Hope To Connect, who has lost loved ones to cancer, shared:

“We want this World Record attempt to be a legacy for all those touched by cancer. To remember, to celebrate and to support. Connection between strangers or friends going through a cancer journey, and families and entire communities who are supporting loved ones - that connection can be quite magical and we’re excited to invite everyone to come and break this World Record with us.”

The event aims to unite 10,000 people from across the UK to form a giant, multi-coloured cancer awareness ribbon (the current record was made in Saudi Arabia with 8,264 people). Participants in the record are encouraged to wear the colour that represents the cancer they’ve fought or the loved one they’re supporting or have lost, symbolising strength, love, and community. The record itself will be at 3pm with participants being on-site and ready to be positioned by 2pm.

The record-breaking gathering will also involve fundraising where attendees can participate in raising vital funds to support five incredible cancer charities:
• The Harley James Reynolds Fund
• Cancer Support Suffolk
• Aoibheann’s Pink Tie
• Manchester Foundation Trust Charity
• The Swallows Head & Neck Cancer Support Group

Proceeds from ticket sales of the event will go toward the development of the tech start-up, Hope To Connect, a groundbreaking social impact app devoted to help people with cancer find friendship, support, and perhaps even love. The app allows users to connect by cancer type, age, and distance, building a safe, understanding community for those navigating the emotional and social impact of cancer.

The day will be packed with live music, family entertainment, wonderful craft stalls, vintage cars, motorbikes, and plenty of delicious food and drinks for all. There’ll be something for everyone, including a fun fair ride and so much more. The event organisers aim to create a fun atmosphere full of unity, remembrance, and positivity.
