In the dark of the night, King Vikramaditya wandered through a dense forest and finally captured Betal once again. As usual, Betal began narrating a story and asked a question at the end. In a kingdom called Mithlawati, ruled by King Gundhip, a young man came from a distant land hoping to serve the king. However, he couldn't meet the king despite his best efforts and eventually ran out of resources. One day, when the king went hunting, the young man followed him into the forest, where the king got separated from his servants and was left with the young man. The king, noticing his weak condition, inquired about it, and the young man explained it was due to his misfortune.

The young man shared his wisdom, explaining that six factors weaken a person, and one's fate is predetermined at birth. Moved by his words, the king decided to take the young man into his service. Some days later, the young man visited a temple, where he encountered a woman who asked him to bathe in a pond. After doing so, the young man found himself back in the city and informed the king about the magical experience. The intrigued king then accompanied him to the temple, where a woman appeared and was smitten with the king. However, the king asked her to marry the young man, and she agreed.

After finishing the story, Betal asked King Vikramaditya who had performed the greater deed, the king or the servant. King Vikramaditya responded that the servant’s actions were greater because he helped without obligation, while the king's actions were part of his duty. Satisfied with the answer, Betal once again flew away into the forest.
रात के अंधेरे में राजा विक्रमादित्य घने जंगल में भटकते रहे और आखिरकार उन्होंने बेताल को फिर से पकड़ लिया। हमेशा की तरह, बेताल ने एक कहानी सुनानी शुरू की और अंत में एक सवाल पूछा। मिथलावती नाम के नगर में गुणधिप नाम का राजा राज करता था। एक दिन, एक युवक दूर देश से राजा की सेवा करने आया, लेकिन राजा से मिलने में असफल रहा और उसके पास जो कुछ भी था, वह खत्म हो गया। एक दिन जब राजा शिकार के लिए जंगल में गए, तो युवक उनके पीछे चला गया। राजा और युवक अकेले रह गए जब राजा अपने सेवकों से बिछड़ गए। राजा ने युवक की कमजोरी देखी और इसका कारण पूछा, जिस पर युवक ने अपने दुर्भाग्य की बात कही।

युवक ने बताया कि छह चीजें इंसान को कमजोर बनाती हैं और हर व्यक्ति का भाग्य उसके जन्म के समय ही तय हो जाता है। राजा युवक की बातों से प्रभावित हुए और उसे अपनी सेवा में ले लिया। कुछ दिनों बाद, युवक एक मंदिर में गया और वहां एक स्त्री से मिला, जिसने उसे तालाब में स्नान करने के लिए कहा। युवक ने स्नान किया और फिर खुद को वापस नगर में पाया। उसने राजा को इस चमत्कारी अनुभव के बारे में बताया। राजा भी मंदिर गए, और वहां एक स्त्री राजा पर मोहित हो गई। लेकिन राजा ने उससे युवक से विवाह करने को कहा, और स्त्री ने यह प्रस्ताव स्वीकार कर लिया।

कहानी के अंत में, बेताल ने राजा विक्रमादित्य से पूछा कि राजा और सेवक में से किसका काम बड़ा था। राजा विक्रमादित्य ने उत्तर दिया कि सेवक का काम बड़ा था क्योंकि उसने बिना किसी कर्तव्य के उपकार किया, जबकि राजा का काम उसके धर्म का हिस्सा था। राजा का जवाब सुनकर बेताल फिर से उड़कर जंगल में चला गया।
