Machining a BIG Cylinder Rod for Mining Excavator | Hitachi EX1900 Boom Lift

Описание к видео Machining a BIG Cylinder Rod for Mining Excavator | Hitachi EX1900 Boom Lift

We need the BIG Lathe for this machining job! We are making a new cylinder rod for a Hitachi EX1900 Mining Excavator boom lift cylinder. The chrome rod is worn out, it has rust spots and fatigue fractures, so we are going to make a new cylinder rod. This shows the step by step process of removing the eye off the old rod, machining up a new rod and welding the eye onto the rod. First step is machining out the weld joint that holds the eye onto the old rod. Once we remove the eye off the rod we also press out the damaged bushing in our hydraulic press. We then start machining up the new cylinder rod by rough turning before finish machining the end for the piston and nut. We cut a 4mm thread pitch external thread for the nut before flipping the rod to machine the other end. We machine and drill a hole before fitting and stick welding the new rod eye in position. The eye is welded on using metal cored wire before press fitting the new bronze bushing. We finish the job by cleaning, wrapping and strapping the new rod and send it on it’s way to the customer.

In this video we are using:
Shenyang CW6280B Centre Lathe
MetalMaster HPM-150T Hydraulic Press
WIA 500i Weldmatic welder
