80th Guam Liberation Parade 2024 - Real Island Boys

Описание к видео 80th Guam Liberation Parade 2024 - Real Island Boys

The Chamorro word for people of color (blacks) is Negro - borrowed from the Spanish. However, we do have our very own word, it's pronounced "Bu-Ku-Koo" its not derogatory in any way, its just our word for blacks.

That being said, our annual Liberation Parade is to honor those who fought and died to bring freedom to our little island more than 80 years ago. The U.S. Marines landed on shore and paid in blood to liberate our island from Japanese occupation. We are forever grateful and thankful.

This is the most I've ever walked in all the parades I've been to. I walked the entire length, four times to visit as much family clans as possible. If I missed your family, or a particular float, I apologize. I'd like to thank all the families for their warm kindness, food, and hospitality. Biba Guahan!!!
