I didn’t know the impact and influence I had on my cousin’s son.

Until he randomly reached out to me as I was about to go to sleep a few weeks ago.

His Dad (my cousin) took his own life over 25 years ago.

Initially, my heart raced and I thought the worst. What’s the matter? What happened?

Then I saw his message…

“I cannot sleep and seen that you are online. I figured I'd shoot you a message. Just letting you know that even though I didn't get to spend a lot of time with you when I was growing up, I still look up to you a lot and the advice you gave me when I got the chance, I truly appreciate it.”

It makes me emotional just thinking about the moment I saw that text.

It also made me realize just how impactful a text, email, call … or simply just being present in a conversation…can be in letting someone know that they are loved.
