Beauty Beyond The Scars

Despite Uganda's consistent and multisectoral approaches to reduce HIV spread and prevalence, stigma has remained a persistent impediment to this goal. However, everything is not lost.

The Y+ beauty contest, a fashion forum, has positioned itself to inspire young people to remain hopeful in the fight against HIV, spreading awareness and helping others. The pageant empowers young people living with HIV to embrace their identities and become change agents in their communities.

This documentary is a one-of-a-kind narrative of acceptance and a newfound purpose, told by a young woman who has transformed herself into an advocate for positive living.
