A bar of pie chart is used to transfer some of the data points to a second plot to increase visibility. These data points get summed up as "Other" in the first plot. The Format Data Series pane provides several in-built options for automatic splitting of the series between two plots: by position of the data entries from the bottom of the table, by value, or percentage value. But the custom assignment of the data points requires a manual selection to move them between plots. In this video you will see a solution using Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications, pivot tables, and a slicer to automate the custom assignment of the data points to the second plot. The example data consists of retail sales of different ice cream flavors and brands. Every time that a different flavor is selected using a slicer, this flavor gets drilled down by brand.
