Foot odor is an unpleasant condition that can cause more than a little embarrassment. Unfortunately, it can affect an individual’s daily life many different ways, and even cause a decrease in a person’s social life. This condition usually occurs when our feet sweat, and this sweat doesn’t evaporate because we are wearing shoes or socks. This will eventually lead to an increase in natural bacteria, producing the unwanted smell. Fortunately, there are natural remedies we can use to eliminate this annoying problem. Lets discuss some of these simple home remedies to treat food door.

1. First, soaking your feet in epsom salt can help to neutralize and eliminate foot odor. It can reduce the smell coming from the feet since it is effective at fighting both microbial infection and bacteria. Epsom salt can also help to improve our skin health and also eliminate fungi. As an added benefit, this soak will detoxify and soothe aching feet. For best results, mix about two teaspoons of epsom salt in a basin for your feet. Soak your feet in the mixture for about 10 to 15 minutes before going to bed. Continue this remedy for a few days.

2. Another all natural treatment for foot odor is black tea. Well known as a healthy drink we can consume, it actually contains a couple of compounds that can minimize the smell associated with our feet. Black tea contains tannic acid that helps to both kill bacteria that produce foot odor, as well as naturally neutralize odor. It is also effective for helping to close the pores on our feet, which will reduce sweat and bacteria. For this treatment, boil two black tea bags in about three cups of hot water. Add a couple cups of cooler water to lower the temperature, and make sure the water is cooled before putting your feet in. Soak your feet in the tea for about 15 to 20 minutes and do this daily for about a week. Again, make sure the water is cool enough for your feet before soaking.

3. Lastly, another effective home remedy to reduce foot odor involves soaking your feet in vinegar. Apple cider vinegar can be especially helpful in this regard and is often recommended. Apple cider vinegar can help to reduce feet odor since it creates an acidic environment which eliminates bacteria and doesn’t allow them to thrive. By eliminating this bacteria, foot odor is reduced. As well, it can also help to promote the health of our skin. Begin by preparing a mixture of one-half cup of apple cider vinegar and about six to 8 cups of warm water. Allow to cool and soak your feet in the mixture for about 10 to 15 minutes. Once done soaking, rinse and wash your feet to remove the vinegar smell.
