Hello students! Welcome to GE9 Subject (Rizal's Life and Works). In today's video, we will talk about the The Indolence of the Filipino People.

This was the longest essay written by Rizal, which was published in La Solidaridad. It's a defense against the allegation of the Spanish administrators wherein, they are saying that the Filipinos are lazy. Recognizing the existence of “indolence”, Rizal sought to look for the causes. Inalam ni Rizal ang mga dahilan kung bakit nga ba sinabing tamad ang mga Filipinos. There are two factors: 1st those attributable to the Spanish Colonizers and 2nd those attributable to the Filipino’s own faults.
