1973: Should HORNSEA have a NUDIST beach? | Nationwide | Voice of the People | BBC Archive

Описание к видео 1973: Should HORNSEA have a NUDIST beach? | Nationwide | Voice of the People | BBC Archive

Bernard Falk reports from the Yorkshire seaside town of Hornsea where (in a clear case of nominative determinism) the council has decided to allow nudists onto their beach.

How has news of this nudist beach gone down with the good people of Hornsea? The intrepid reporter bares all in an attempt to get to to the bottom of the story, and see if he can find anyone - other than he - who would dare to brave the chilly Yorkshire coast au natural.

Note: This clip is about naturists, not "naturalists", as Mr Falk states in error…

Originally broadcast 16 October, 1973.

To mark the BBC's 100th birthday, our wonderful archivists have been asked to pick THEIR favourite BBC moments.

"Featuring veteran reporter Bernard Falk wearing nothing but a bush, along with some excellent belligerent vox pops from locals. I visited Hornsea often as a child and it's just like I remember it, grey and cold! I often come across random items like this in the course of my work and the ones that stick in my mind are usually from Nationwide, no programme does random/WTF items like Nationwide." - Isabel
