"There’s a video specifically that really shocked me. It's a close-up video of Vinícius in which you can see him suffering from what he is hearing and I really identified with that. I've been living in Spain for one year and four months and in a way I know what he is feeling. Obviously, I’ve never been in a football stadium where thousands of people are shouting ‘monkey!' but in the day-to-day with things that were perhaps not as aggressive as this, I have felt like crap. So I know what he was going through. A couple of times I have even cried from anger and frustration inside my home.”

"It's unfortunate that it happens but it's good that it is being analyzed and that the sheets are being torn down, talking about the racism that exists in this country."
9. Wide of Jiménez Enoa reading from the document where he has recorded more than 180 instances of racism he has faced, one example while walking in the street. UPSOUND (Spanish):
"I hear in my left ear, almost as if the guy had gotten close to me to whisper a secret that nobody else could hear, the phrase: 'Better if you let him go in front (referring to Jiménez Enoa) because you never know who are the dangerous ones.'"
10. SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Abraham Jiménez Enoa, Cuban journalist and writer living in Spain who has recorded in writing over 180 episodes of racism he has faced since moving to the country:
"I had never suffered from such explicit racism, in the day-to-day, in the metro, in the streets, in shops, in the market, wherever. I had never suffered from how my skin color marked my everyday life."
11. Close of Jiménez Enoa's phone as he reads another example. UPSOUND (Spanish) "I'm having a drink with friends. We are seated at the bar drinking beer and having some tapas. The bar is packed, I just went to the bathroom and one can barely walk. A woman walks by me and tells me 'we are going outside to smoke, we're not leaving, we still owe the bill.' I don't understand why this lady tells me this. A few minutes later she returns with her friends, I look at her and she tells me: 'I'm sorry, I confused you with the bartender. You are the only different ones.'"
