Another Year - Improv Playthrough

I was finally able to record my vdrums into the x8p and sync the audio with the video and played through a few AAL songs. This is a victory for me because as a drummer I've been technologically challenged for most of my life, so baby steps are good! #animalsasleaders #drums #playthrough

For the purists who are mad bc I just shit all over this tune, please forgive me. Though I've listened to this record probably hundreds of times but I don't often play to it or even practice much these days. Playing to songs I love IS my practice nowadays. So this is unrefined first take woodshedding without a care except to loosen up and get some notes out. I practice my own techniques and rhythmic articulations over the top of great music and it's one of the funnest things ever. I don't really have time to sit around and learn tunes exactly note for note these days, though I hope to invest some time into covering a handful of masterpieces before I die, mainly as a tribute to the artists who have inspired me and guided my musical evolution over decades now. Who knows I'm sure I'll play in bands again as well. Right now it's family first.

This was all done in logic. Just imported video and audio, added the mp3, sync'd it all up and did some sound automation to capture a little room sound at the beginning of the clip and fade to only the recorded sound of the vdrums.

Previously I've literally just recorded the live room sound when vdrum and track was amplified through Roland wedge.. Sad I know. I'm currently 44 years old and it's taken me this long. 😂
