TET Wales South to North on the KTM 890 Adventure

Join me on a few highs and lows of my solo adventure along the Welsh section of the trans euro trail. I had wanted to do this ride for about twelve months or so and with some passing by rapidly I took a few days of work and set off for Wales.

Day 1, started in Tintern near Chepstow. I rode West across some challenging trails and roads. I met Mark on his Beta and he joined me for a few trails which was good. He helped me pick the bike up, Cheers mate. After a long day and six bike drops/tumbles I made it to Abercraf just north of Neath.
Day 2, the TET goes North across the Cambrian Mountains. Quite a lot of road sections and sheep. Sarn Helen (Roman road) was stunning. Up through Llandovery, continuing North and I avoided the Strata Florida. No point trying solo, especially after the previous days lifting. After the loops around Goginan, I spent the night in Aberystwyth.

Day 3, North to Machynlleth and the loop known as Bastard Lane. It lived up to its reputation and I managed to fall off. Lack of long legs and ability. The route takes you past Barmouth and I dropped into Dolgellau for late lunch. After a couple of road sections, the route continues north through the Coed Y Brenin Forest and I was joined by the rain. I spent the third night in Betsy Coed.

Day 4, a poor start having ridden for half an hour to discover the road was closed and impassable. I continued heading East Through more stunning scenery and the Cambrian Mountains. At this point the amount of gates was beyond belief. On one section there was a gate every 500 yards it seemed. I stopped in Crowen for Lunch and dropped in to Chirk. The last few trails leading to the end of the route were decent and the views remained amazing. There's an official County line post where the route ends that defines the border which was cool. Four long days riding 444 miles and I counted 117 gates. Probably more, as I missed the strata and another trail I couldn't get up.
