Heute hat unser Kirchenchor sehr zur Gestaltung des Gottesdienstes beigetragen. 1972 hat die in Gnoien wohnhafte Kirchenkreiskatechetin, Hanne-Lore Harder, den Kirchenchor wieder ins Leben gerufen. Diesen Chor gibt es bis heute, und das fünfzigjährige Bestehen wurde heute mit diesem Gottesdienst und einem anschließenden Mittagessen gefeiert. Heute leitet Pastor Grell den Chor. Heute waren wir aus verschiedenen Gründen nicht vollzählig (wir sind insgesamt 18 Personen), und manche hatten sich gerade von Corona erholt. Trotzdem haben wir gefeiert! Die Titel der Lieder, die gesungen wurden, werden während des Videos gezeigt.

Today our church choir contributed a lot to our worship service. In 1972 the regional leader of catechismal services, Hanne-Lore Harder, revived our church choir, and this choir exists to this day. We celebrated this 50th anniversary with this worship service and dinner afterwards. Today Pastor Grell directs the choir. Today not all of us (18 all together) could attend, and some of us are just recuperating from COVID 19. Nevertheless, we celebrated! The names of the songs which were sung will be shown in the video.
Here the summary of the sermon: Our gospel for today was the parable of the lost son(s) from Luke 15, and the sermon text was from Ezekiel 18. The sermon begins quoting a song of praise where we praise the God "who helps us from the depths so that we can live". This song, a modern song from 1979, puts in simple words what unites all Christians despite all differences: The experience of being helped by this specific God. The parable of the lost son is a story about this God and about his help, and the words from Ezekiel also tell how God helps his people Israel during the time of the exil in Babylonia. He helps people out of the depths - a) by not accepting the fact that people like to push their own faults and guilt onto others (scapegoats) and b) by showing his people where they have gone off on a path that only leads to their own destruction. They set their trust in false powers and gods, ignored the truth and only wanted to hear messages that confirmed what they were doing. In the case of the lost son: He squandered the resources that he needed for life. In both cases their only hope was the God who called them to turn away from their present ways and to turn back to their God and to listen to his word. This is the same God whom we believe in, and our hope is this God who pulls us out of the depths - also by making us recognize where we are on the wrong path and must chance our own lives radically.
