Groundbreaking SHM Technology Safeguards Megastructures Worldwide

Описание к видео Groundbreaking SHM Technology Safeguards Megastructures Worldwide

Structural health monitoring (SHM) systems keep megastructures including long-span bridges and skyscrapers healthy to withstand devastating forces such as typhoons and earthquakes. Since the 1990s, PolyU has pioneered an SHM system that continuously collects and analyses real-time data to detect any damage or deterioration earliest possible. Over the years, PolyU’s SHM technology has been applied to monitor the health of Tsing Ma Bridge, Stonecutters Bridge, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, Sutong Bridge in Jiangsu, Canton Tower in Guangzhou, Beijing CCTV Tower and Shanghai Tower, amongst others. PolyU will continuously upgrade the SHM technology to help monitor and maintain the structural health of megastructures, safeguarding life and property.
