Описание к видео Why Following Your Gut Makes ANXIETY & DEPRESSION Worse

"Follow your gut" is advice we hear all the time, but when it comes to anxiety and depression, doing what feels instinctive can actually make things worse. This video explores how gut instincts are often hijacked by mental health conditions, especially depression and anxiety, leading to behaviors that reinforce those very symptoms. When you feel low, your gut might tell you to isolate, avoid responsibilities, or skip things that used to bring joy. When you’re anxious, your gut reaction might push you to avoid discomfort, reinforcing the anxiety long-term. While intuition can be useful, this type of automatic thinking can deepen avoidance patterns and make emotional recovery more difficult. Psychologists often see this pattern where clients act on what they feel like doing, because it feels easier or safer, but unknowingly fuel a cycle of negative mood. In this video, you’ll learn how to spot these gut-driven traps and what it means to use “opposite action” instead. The concept is simple: when your depression says “stay in bed,” the opposite action is to get up. When anxiety says “avoid the situation,” the opposite is to face it in small steps. If you struggle with anxiety, depression, or simply want to learn how to manage negative thinking and behaviors more effectively, this video offers a powerful reframe.
