As an advocate for the need to raise better awareness of and talk more about mental health issues, I was excited to be invited along to be part of some of the live stream shows by the fantastic Mental Health Warriors. A huge thanks to Mental Health Warriors for allowing me to join their stream.

Their shows raise awareness of mental health issues and their guests share their stories, experiences and ways they have coped or overcome their challenges. We need to talk about our mental health more than ever as statistic show that depression is increasing in the UK.

Mental health issues are a complex and multifaceted phenomenon, and there is no single cause for their increase in the UK. However, some factors that have been identified as contributing to the rise in mental health issues include:

The COVID-19 pandemic: The pandemic has had a significant impact on people’s mental health, with many experiencing anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues due to the stress of the pandemic.

Social media: Social media has been linked to increased levels of anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues in young people.

Workplace stress: Work-related stress is a significant contributor to mental health issues in the UK. According to a recent survey, 79% of UK workers have experienced work-related stress.

Financial pressures: Financial pressures can also contribute to mental health issues. A recent study found that 60% of people in debt experience mental health problems.

Stigma surrounding mental health: Despite progress in recent years, there is still a significant stigma surrounding mental health in the UK. This can prevent people from seeking help when they need it.

Yesterday, I was in an interview with Philip Monaghan, who is the founder of the Kingsmen support groups.
