If you are looking into visiting us at the Mind-Eye Institute clinic to help get relief for their lingering symptoms and effects of TBI, ADD/ADHD, ASD, and other issues that may be causing connective issues between the eyes and the brain, you don't want to miss this Ask Me Anything session!

Mind-Eye Institute's Deborah Zelinsky, OD, FNORA, FCOVD answered questions and discussed treatment solutions for various vision problems.

Thank you to everyone that submitted questions, both beforehand and during the presentation. Although we didn't get to everyone's questions in our limited time together yesterday, we wanted to take the time to answer some of them now.

Q. Have you been able to help anyone with a 24/7 headache, with severe panic disorder, and/or with a constant visual aura?
A. No…but sometimes a team of practitioners can “eat away” with each of the symptoms bit by bit.

Q. Can multiple brain injuries cause someone to be double minded at times? My husband says things that contradict what he previously told me.
A. Yes, brain injuries can create confusion where sometimes a person thinks they said something but they didn’t really say it, or their perception changes and they have different viewpoints.

Q. I would like to ask how the special glasses help with ADHD, dyslexia, and anxiety? Can all three be addressed at the same time?
A. ADHD means the person uses a floodlight, not a penlight, dyslexia means the auditory and visual inputs are not synchronized, and anxiety comes sometimes from confusion of sensory inputs. In short, yes, all three can be worked with by balancing sensory inputs.

Q. I’m 15 months post op from a pinealectomy (occipital craniotomy) to remove my pineal gland/cystic tumor. I still struggle with an eye/brain disconnect as if my eyes don’t properly work together. It makes me feel disconnected from reality and very spacey. Is this something you can help me with? What’s the process like in fixing this?
A. Yes, this is what we do well with. Process is determining which parts of the many visual pathways and the non-image forming pathways need to be either activated or blocked off, where signals are diverted from the “bad” parts.
